8am
My alarm goes off at 7am and after 7 hours sleep uniterrupted sleep i fail to get up and fall back to sleep waking again at 745am. This has always been a chronic problem - falling back to sleep after initially waking up, even though i know i should really get out of bed and head into work.

I feel groggy, although this is hardly unexpected seeing as I have only been awake for 15 minutes.

Next week i shall go for a couple of days without dosing on modafinil and see how this compares. Today's dose of 200mg modalert will be taken at approximately 10am

Comments: Pretty much bog standard feelings upon waking for me.

10am
Just popped a 200mg Modalert pill

Comments: Still feeling pretty groggy – A shower earlier was refreshing but that feeling has long gone.

1230pm

Comments: The last few hours have gone by pretty quickly whilst i've been focused, noticably moreso than normal, on work. Alas it's hard to tell whether this increase in focus is due to effects from the Modalert or simply that it is a particularly untypical and interesting assignment. As far as feelings of tiredness go, i'm not sure i feel any different, and if do it is probably feeling different in the sense that i've found it easier to ignore the tireness than usual. Again, this might be attributed to the fact that work is particularly stimulating today.

1330pm

Comments: Nothing new to report really; if there are any effects they're darn subtle ones. I've popped another 100 mg.

1545pm

Comments: Still not sure i can definitely attribute any particular feelings to the Modalert. I feel a little different, in a strange undescribable kind of way, but it is possible these are purely psychosomatic. I feel tired still, physically, but managed to avoid my usual mid-afternoon slump and am still working away quite happily. Another strange occurence was that my appetite has definitely been affected; all i've eaten today has been a small portion of fruit and half a sandwich, yet i am not hungry in the slightest. Normally i'd have eaten significantly more.

1715pm

Comments: Still struggling to notice any definite benefits. It may be doing the trick in terms of keeping me focused on work (which i still am, unusually), not half-falling asleep halfway through the afteroon but it's hard to know for sure. I'll try again tomorrow, with maybe a larger initial dosage.

Interesting.... After originally experimenting with Modalert for approximately 5 weeks, and then trying Cephalon's Modiodal, I'm beginning to think my early Modalert trials were inaccurrate due to the fact that being an unknown experience, I was expecting "energy", and that never occurred. In fact, many times I took Modalert and went back to sleep.

Then comes Modiodal, which conincidentally, arrived at the same time I was under tremendouse pressure with deadlines to accomplish a great amount of work. Modiodal "opened the door" to my understanding of Modafinil, and that understanding is simple now: Modafinil equals "focus", NOT "energy". There is a substantial difference between the two. Once I grasped this concept, I was able to fully take advantage of Modiodal because I understood the mechanism: Don't expect energy, but expect great focusing potential if I motivate myself enough to apply my current energy towards a task. It worked... time after time after time.

However, it didn't help to "wake me up". My analogy: Modafinil is like fuel for your car. Filling your gas tank doesn't get you anywhere, you still have to do that yourself. It just gives you the opportunity to drive longer.
